Earnest by name, Earnest by nature…

This independent café and bar, known for its honest food, creative drinks menu, eclectic music and off-the-wall interactive events is situated in Ouseburn – and does exactly what it says on the tin…and more.

Have you ever been in a bar with a multitude of spinning disco balls, walls lined with Star Wars figurines, delectable cocktails you’ve never heard of but instantly crave more of and a mixture of the best collection of well-known and underground tracks pulsating in your ears?  There’s never a dull moment at Earnest. 

Surprisingly, it’s also just as inviting when the sun’s glittering, the cold wind whips you up into a frenzy and you need somewhere to hibernate for an hour or two. The Earnest brunch menu has you covered. Whether you need something fresh like granola and eggs or a wholesome dish to tackle a heady hangover such as a hash bowl or their seasonal special of the day, there’s choice in abundance. Even if like me, you’re following specific macros, there’s unfortunately no guide per dish, however there’s plenty you can choose from - protein packed Earnesto Eggs with salmon or nutrient packed veggie shakshuka - that won’t let the guilt creep in while you’re enjoying time away from the Tupperware.

Chow down with one of their homemade soda waters too (passion fruit, earl grey and lemon soda is my absolute go-to, add a sneaky shot of vodka for an extra punch) alongside a barista coffee and put the world to rights with your best beloved humans. If I had the powers, I would beam every person I know there immediately and make them try this place. There’s simply no way you’d be disappointed.

There’s no bullshit here. No long menu’s full of overcomplicated pretentious food. It’s fresh, cooked with love, the portions are fab, the service is great, the atmosphere is chilled, the interiors are quirky…it’s everything you need to fill your heart and soul, in one place.
